The Anglo-Dutch Rivalry over Trade in Persia during the Seventeenth Century

This paper examines the Anglo-Dutch rivalry over trade in Persia during seventeenth century, following that had existed sixteenth century. The Portuguese, who dominated region’s political, military, and commercial capabilities, began to lose their influence after expulsion from Hormuz 1622, then faded Muscat 1650.
